My company sells emergency preparedness kits & we are looking to move into a retail environment. We would appreciate a list of reputable national buyers or agents who can help us move into the retail arena.

I live in an area that is extremely unlikely to be hit by floods, hurricanes or wildfires. What are some other reasons that would require emergency preparedness or evacuation. Asking because it may influence how I prepare for the “just in case”. Looking for the obvious I may have missed as well as more far-fetched-never-thought-of-that before type stuff. Possible events and stuff to stash away is helpful. Also what are some good survivalist/preparedness websites?

I had this thought today, what if the tribulation happens durring the winter time and there is no heat because everything is shut down. So no matter how much food and water I have, I’ll eventually freeze to death, die from ammonia or cold. Now you people who have fire places will be fine but what about those of us who live in apartments and have no fire place. Where are we going to get heat?
ALSO, if I live in an apartment durring the tribulation and all the banks are shut down, how am I going to pay my rent? Am I going to live on the street with my food and water storage?
My manager might be screwed anyways since he can’t get his money out of the bank either.

I’ve noticed as of late that more religions than just LDS seem to be encouraging their members to have food storage and/or emergency preparedness items.

I actually think this is a great thing for Churches to do. Does your Church do this?

By the way, this is NOT a flame another religion, my-religion-is-better-than-yours question. If you can’t state things in a polite way, please just skip this question and move on to another one.
Yes, food storage for yourself/family. I’ve noticed that some Churches are encouraging their members to do so.

Food Storage isn’t for The Rapture. Rather for things like Katrina, rising prices of gas and foods, death in the family, divorce, unemployment, war, famine, ect.

I’ve just noticed that some Churches have decided it would be a good idea for members to be better prepared.

I am thinking of putting together personalized emergency kits for several couples on my christmas list (a tidy red box with self-charging flashlite, radio, water, food, and a folder for copies of important papers, etc.) Is this a nice gift or would you prefer something more like a book or bath soap?
Man. This is not really helping me. Seems like half say, “Yes, great” and half say “No, too impersonal”. I’m going to go with something else, I think, and just make a good kit for my own family. Thanks everyone.

I am the Disability Coordinator for the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut. I am trying to set up a data base that will allow me to identify the address of individuals with severe disabilities, such as
the mobility impaired, individuals that use oxygen. The objective is to identify people who will need assistance incase there is a need to evacuate. This is a part of the Emergency Preparedness plan.

New Orlean’s emergency preparedness director has already said - Anyone that stays is responsible for themselves and their loved ones

Plus the police are locking the Super dome and saying anyone that stays are on their own.

Isn’t that just asking for a lawsuit or bad press or being labeled cruel-crassy & uncaring.

Natural disaster could strike in any community in a number of ways, including fire, flood, tornadoes, hurricanes, or earthquakes. A terrorist attack or hazardous spill could also cause the disaster preparedness plan of your community to be put into effect. There are many organizations at the federal level with disaster responsibilities including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Department of Transportation, the Army Corps of Engineers, and many others. States also have offices of emergency services. Local government agencies have police and fire departments that take care of disaster responsibilities. All communities plan for disasters. So, how prepared is your community?
